WebJan 14, 2006 · The six speed Allison just has an extra OD, 0.61:1 from a 0.71:1 I recall. Nothing major. Should drop you 200rpm I'd venture to say. The 8.1/Allison should get similar economy as the 6.0/80E if not BETTER. That 80E has a shit OD ratio of 0.75:1 = high RPM on freeway over 65mph. I wouldn't say no to an 8.1 with 4.10:1 gears.
